Notes
• This marks the final regular-season game for the Wolverines before heading to the 2025 Big Ten Tournament. Michigan has already surpassed its Big Ten win total from last season, picking up its 10th win against Penn State (Feb. 22). At 10-7 (as of Feb. 28), U-M is tied for sixth place in the conference. Michigan's NET ranking (as of Feb. 27) is 28 as one of eight Big Ten teams in the top 30.
• Michigan is looking for its 20th win of the season after picking up win No. 19 against Penn State (Feb. 22). U-M has reached 20 wins in all but one season under Kim Barnes Arico, with the exception coming during the 2020-21 season when Michigan played just 22 games during the COVID pandemic. U-M has 15 20-win seasons in program history, with 11 coming under KBA.
• Macy Brown provided a spark off the bench for Michigan last time out, going for five points and a rebound in six minutes of action against Iowa (Feb. 26). She hit a three-pointer and a driving layup in the third quarter as Michigan cut a 21-point deficit to six points. Michigan was +9 during her time on the floor.
• Michigan went 5-2 in the month of February, winning four straight to begin the month.
• There are just eight freshmen across the Power Four conferences who have played at least 795 minutes this season, with Michigan's trio of freshman starters among them. Olivia Olson (834, 29.8 mpg), Syla Swords (855, 31.7 mpg) and Mila Holloway (795, 28.5 mpg) are playing heavy minutes for the Wolverines. There is only one other team in the top 30 of the NET playing a freshman this much -- Mikalya Blakes at Vanderbilt.
• U-M has four players scoring in double figures in Olson (15.9 ppg), Swords (15.9 ppg), Hobbs (13.1 ppg) and Holloway (10.0 ppg). Michigan is one of four Big Ten teams to have four players averaging double figures in scoring.
• Swords recorded her second double-double of the season in Michigan's game against Iowa (Feb. 26), scoring 22 points with 10 rebounds. She is one of five freshmen nationally to have multiple 20-point double-doubles after beginning her freshman season with 27 points and 12 rebounds against South Carolina (Nov. 4).
• Illinois leads the all-time series, 41-37, after the teams split the season series last year. U-M recorded an 84-48 win over the Illini last season at the State Farm Center. Michigan had won eight straight in the series before Illinois recorded a 77-64 win at Crisler on Jan. 31, 2024.Â
• Next up for Michigan is the 2025 Big Ten Tournament, being held at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis (March 5-9). U-M is one of 13 schools that has already punched its ticket to the event. With the addition of the four West Coast schools this season, only 15 teams will make the tournament.
