Notes
• Michigan has won seven straight games, beginning with a win over No. 15 Oregon on April 6. The Wolverines added two midweek wins, including a seven-inning no-hitter against Akron, before sweeping Mount St. Mary's and run-ruling Toledo on Tuesday (April 15).
• Tate Carey threw a seven-inning no-hitter against Akron last Tuesday (April 8) and followed it up with five scoreless innings against Mount St. Mary's to earn Big Ten Pitcher and Freshman of the Week honors, along with NCBWA Co-Pitcher of the Week honors. Carey pitched 12 scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts and just one walk. Opponents hit .081 against him over that span. He leads Michigan with a 6-0 record and ranks third in the Big Ten and 16th nationally in wins.
• Kurt Barr leads Michigan in strikeouts and ranks sixth in the Big Ten. He struck out seven over eight innings of one-run ball against Mount St. Mary's. Despite a tough outing against Oregon, he fanned six. Over his two previous starts, Barr totaled 17 strikeouts and five earned runs in 12 innings. He is 4-2 with a 4.40 ERA in 43.0 innings.
• David Lally Jr. pitched his second complete game of the season in a shutout against Mount St. Mary's. He leads the team in innings pitched (47.1), has struck out 36, and owns a 4.37 ERA with a 1.33 WHIP. He is one of 35 Division I pitchers with multiple complete games this year.
• Cade Connolly delivered a career-high six scoreless innings with eight strikeouts against Toledo. Over his last five appearances, he has allowed just one run in 13 innings with 16 strikeouts. Connolly owns a 2.77 ERA and 28 strikeouts across 26 innings in 15 appearances.
• Benny Casillas leads Michigan with a .426 average, second-best in the Big Ten behind Purdue's Lukas Cook (.430). He has 55 hits on the season, including 19 in his last 10 games, and has reached base in 22 straight contests. Casillas has started 35 of 37 games and reached base in all 35. He owns a .519 OBP with 23 walks and just 16 strikeouts.
• Cole Caruso is hitting .305/.378/.588 with a team-leading nine home runs, more than doubling his previous career total. One of three Wolverines to play every game (joining Jeter Ybarra and Mitch Voit), Caruso is hitting .419 with a .710 slugging percentage over the last 10 games.
• Greg Pace Jr. is hitting .440 over his last 10 games, scoring nine runs with 11 hits and seven RBI. He went 4-for-4 with three RBI and three doubles in Friday's win over Mount St. Mary's. Pace is hitting .286 on the season and has appeared in 97 games in his Michigan career.
• Ybarra is hitting .286 with a .481 slugging percentage and five home runs over his last 12 games after going homerless in his first 25. He has started all 37 games and leads Michigan in slugging percentage over the last 10 contests at .788, collecting 11 hits, three doubles, and four homers in that span.
• Iowa (23-11, 14-4 Big Ten) ranks second in the conference standings. The Hawkeyes have series wins over Rutgers, Michigan State, Northwestern, and Nebraska, and have swept Ohio State and Minnesota. Michigan is 126-62 all-time against Iowa, including a 112-56 mark in Big Ten play, and has won the last three meetings. Last season, U-M won a doubleheader in Iowa City and knocked off the Hawkeyes in the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament.
