U-M's bats came alive in the fourth with Colby Turner opening the frame with a hit-by-pitch. Cole Caruso doubled to put runners at second and third. After a strikeout, Joe Longo drew a walk to load the bases before Miller scored two with a double. The Wolverines added two more on an error and a sacrifice fly from Greg Pace Jr. to take a 5-4 lead.
The Hawkeyes tied the game in the fifth on a leadoff single and two-out double. The Wolverines threatened in the bottom of the fifth, but stranded two runners in scoring position the game remained tied.
