
Wolverines to Head West for Spring Break Games

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 12-ranked University of Michigan water polo team heads to California over spring break for a challenging four-game non-conference stretch. The Wolverines open the trip Saturday (Feb. 28) at 1 p.m. PT against No. 2 UCLA at Spieker Aquatics Center and the team continues play Monday (March 2) at 1 p.m. PT against Biola University (2-11) at Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center in La Mirada, California. U-M then takes on Concordia University Irvine (7-6) on Tuesday (March 3) at 11 a.m. PT at William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine before the trip wraps up Wednesday (March 4) at 6 p.m. PT against No. 15 UC San Diego (6-6) at Canyonview Aquatic Center.
Notes
• The Wolverines travel to California coming off a 3-0 weekend in their first conference matchups of the season.
• Junior Emma Gustafsson scored 10 goals across the three games, including a five-goal performance, and added one assist for 11 total points on the weekend. Gustafsson earned CWPA Player of the Week honors for her performance at the Conference Crossover.
• Sophia Bunnell started in net in all three games and totaled 26 saves. Bunnell was named CWPA Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week following her showing at the Conference Crossover.
• Senior Issy Jackson contributed on both ends of the pool, recording three goals, two assists and nine steals across the three conference games.
• The Wolverines earned their sixth win by 10-plus goals this season with a 20-7 victory over Bucknell on Sunday (Feb. 22).
• U-M will face Concordia University Irvine for the second time this season after earning a 21-8 victory in the first meeting.
• Michigan opens the trip against UCLA (10-1) at Spieker Aquatics Center and will look to defeat the Bruins for the first time in program history. The game will be streamed on Overnght.
