
U-M to Wrap Up Regular-Season CWPA Play Against Princeton, Saint Francis

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 10-ranked University of Michigan water polo team (14-8, 3-0 CWPA) travels to Princeton, N.J., to compete in the Conference Crossover at Denunzio Pool. The Wolverines will take on a pair of opponents on Saturday (March 21), starting with the host, No. 16-ranked Princeton (18-5, 3-1 CWPA), at 9 a.m. They will then face Staint Francis (5-7, 0-0 CWPA) at 12:30 p.m., with both games to be streamed live on ESPN+.
Notes
• The Wolverines are coming off a bye week during which they posted a 4-2 record over a six-game stretch in California. Each win was by multiple goals, including a 16-5 triumph over Biola, while Michigan's losses came against second-ranked UCLA and third-ranked USC.
• U-M goes into the weekend ranked 10th in the CWPA poll, the first time this season it has broken into the top 10. If the Wolverines win out, they will be undefeated in conference play and will head into the CWPA Championship as the No. 1 seed.
• Michigan has outperformed its opponents in nearly every category this season, outscoring them 301-241, with a shooting percentage of .531.
• Emma Gustafsson was named CWPA Player of the Week on Feb. 23, coming off her performance at the last Conference Crossover. She converted multiple goals in conference play this season, notching three multi-goal games in each of the three contests.
• Ari Karampetsou is Michigan's leader in points (79), goals (52) and assists (27). She is approaching her goal total from last season (66).
• U-M played its best defensive game of the season against UC San Diego in their last week of games, totaling 17 steals and six field blocks throughout the game.
• Sophia Bunnell also matched her season high with 15 saves against UC San Diego.
• The Maize and Blue last hosted Princeton on April 5, 2025, a 9-8 loss to the Tigers. U-M last competed against Saint Francis, opening the CWPA Championship with a 20-10 win over the Red Flash.
