
Michigan to Wrap Up Non-Conference Slate at EMU Wednesday

The University of Michigan women's basketball team (8-2) concludes the non-conference portion of its schedule on Wednesday (Dec. 23) at Eastern Michigan (7-2). The game is set for 3:30 p.m. at the Convocation Center and can be seen on ESPN3.
• Sophomore Katelynn Flaherty has elevated her game to another level in her second season in Ann Arbor. Through 10 games, Flaherty has already scored 215 points and is shooting 50.6 percent from the floor and 41.3 percent from three-point range. She is one of seven players nationally to average at least 20 points per game on 50 percent shooting and is the only one under 6'0".
• Katelynn Flaherty has scored in double figures in all but one contest this season and has scored at least 20 in each of the last four games. Since she was held to just seven points against Oral Roberts (11/29), the sophomore has averaged 25.5 ppg on 52.0 percent shooting from the floor and 51.9 percent shooting from three-point range.
• Senior Madison Ristovski has been a jack of all trades this season, seeing time at three different positions. She has played in all 10 games, starting nine times. She is averaging 6.1 points, 2.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 22.0 minutes of action. The senior is shooting 46.9 percent from the floor and improves that mark to 50 percent behind the three-point line. For her career, Ristovski has appeared in all 112 games since coming to Ann Arbor. She ranks 12th in three-pointers made with 103 and 20th in assists with 236.
• Freshman Nicole Munger has provided Michigan with a spark off the bench, spearheading both U-M's offense and defense with the second unit. After matching her career high with 19 points in 18 minutes against Miami (Ohio) (Dec. 19), Munger is now averaging 9.9 points and 3.3 rebounds in 18.7 minutes of action. She has scored in double figures five times this season, including the last two games. She is also third on the team with 13 steals.
• The Eagles (7-2) are playing their first home game since a Dec. 1 win over Oral Roberts. Cha Sweeney leads the way offensively for Eastern Michigan, going for 19.4 ppg, while Janay Morton (14.9 ppg) and Phillis Webb (13.1 ppg) join her in double figures. The Eagles are averaging 79.3 points per game on 40.8 percent shooting through nine games. Michigan has won three in a row over EMU and leads the all-time series, 17-9.
• Michigan is averaging 84.6 points per game to rank seventh nationally and third in the Big Ten, an increase of 14.7 points from last season's average of 69.9. U-M has topped 90 points four times already this season after only reaching the mark one time last year, coming in an overtime win against Ohio State (Jan. 10). Katelynn Flaherty leads the way, averaging 21.5 points per contest, up seven points from her average last season. In her 10 seasons at St. John's, head coach Kim Barnes Arico's teams topped 90 just five total times.
• Through 10 games, U-M is shooting 52.0 percent from the floor to lead the Big Ten and rank fourth nationally. Michigan has shot at least 50 percent from the floor against Detroit, Xavier, USC Upstate, Hartford, Pitt, No. 20 UCLA and Miami, while just missing the mark against Binghamton (49.3 percent) and Oral Roberts (46.3 percent). U-M reached the 60 percent mark (45-for-75) against USC Upstate, marking the first time since Dec. 29, 2012, that the Wolverines shot at least 60 percent.
• Michigan has shot at least 50 percent in seven games this season after reaching the mark just four times during the 2014-15 season.
• Junior point guard Siera Thompson has quietly been directing Michigan's offense through the first 10 games of the season. In addition to her 9.1 points per game, Thompson leads Michigan in assists with 5.3 per contest and is third with 4.3 rebounds per game. The junior is 23rd nationally and third in the Big Ten in assist-turnover ratio at 2.65. She has flirted with a triple-double a few times this season, coming close with seven points, eight assists and seven rebounds against Xavier (Nov. 19). Thompson recently became the 16th Wolverine in school history to hand out 250 assists after dishing out five against Miami (Dec. 19).
