
Michigan Makes Short Trip to Oakland for Sunday Matchup

» The Wolverines will wrap up the road portion of their non-conference schedule on Sunday (Dec. 9) at Oakland. It is Michigan's first trip to Rochester since 2002.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team (6-3) hits the road for the final time during the non-conference season, making the short trip Oakland University to take on the Golden Grizzlies (2-7) on Sunday (Dec. 9) at the Athletics Center O'rena. Tip is set for 1 p.m.
• Freshman Naz Hillmon has had quite the start to her freshman season, recording five games in double figures and three 20-point games. She is coming off the first double-double of her career, scoring 24 points on 10-for-11 shooting with 10 rebounds. She is leading the Big Ten in field-goal percentage at .774, hitting 48-of-62 shots. Hillmon is second on the team in scoring at 12.2 points per game and is tied with Hallie Thome for the team lead in rebounds at 6.2 per contest.
• Senior Hallie Thome has moved into third place on Michigan's all-time scoring list, with 1,803 points. Thome is behind all-time leader Katelynn Flaherty (2,776) and Diane Dietz (2,076). In addition, Thome is up to 741 career boards (10th). Thome is the only Wolverine in school history to have at least 1,800 points and 700 rebounds in a career. She also was named a Senior CLASS nominee, one of 30 women's basketball players recognized.
• Oakland (2-7) has dropped three straight games coming into Sunday's contest after falling to Michigan State, 102-58, on Wednesday (Dec. 5). The Golden Grizzlies have a pair of double-figure scorers in Taylor Jones (14.9 ppg) and LaKeysha Stennis (10.1 ppg). Oakland is averaging 62.9 points per game on 35.9 percent shooting while allowing 74.2 points per contest on 42.5 percent shooting. U-M has won the last two against Oakland and holds a 7-5 advantage in the all-time series.
• U-M is playing its fourth true road contest of the season and the seventh away from Crisler Center. U-M is 1-2 this season in true road games, picking up a win at Western Michigan. The Maize and Blue is 3-3 away from Crisler Center after a 2-1 mark at the Gulf Coast Showcase.
• U-M is 56-6 under head coach Kim Barnes Arico when scoring at least 80 points. Michigan has reached that mark four times this season after Thursday's (Dec. 6) 83-38 win over LIU Brooklyn.
