COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The No. 20 University of Michigan men's lacrosse team fell on the road to the Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday (April 13) in the "Showdown in the Shoe" inside Ohio Stadium.
Michigan (7-5, 0-3 B1G) fell behind, 3-0, in the first 13:32 of the contest, with one of the trio coming on a man-up situation. U-M then went on a 3-0 run of its own, beginning with junior Brent Noseworthy notching U-M's first goal of the night with 1:28 to go in the opening quarter. Junior Decker Curran made it 3-2 at 11:27 of the second, while freshmen Alex Buckanavage tied the game at 3 with 2:27 remaining in the half.
The Wolverine defense excelled the remainder of the half, keyed by 10 saves from senior goalie Tommy Heidt, while freshman Connor Cronin won 5-of-8 chances at the dot in the opening half. The Wolverines held OSU scoreless for nearly 29 minutes, a shutout streak that ended courtesy of Ohio State's Lucas Buckley nearly five minutes into the third quarter.
The Buckeyes outscored Michigan, 4-1, in the third quarter, with U-M's score coming from junior attackman Rocco Sutherland with only three seconds to go in the stanza. LeClaire was responsible for two of the four goals, and finished with a game-high three scores on the night.
Trailing, 8-4, midway through the fourth, Curran ripped his second of the day in transition to cut the deficit to 8-5 with 7:04 in regulation, but it would prove to be the final goal of the night for both teams, as the Wolverines fell by the 8-5 count.
Heidt finished the night with 15 saves, two off his season high, while close defender Nick DeCaprio had six ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers.

The Wolverines host their final regular-season home contest of the season next Saturday (April 21) at noon, when they take on No. 5-ranked Johns Hopkins Blue Jays from U-M Lacrosse Stadium.
