The University of Michigan men's lacrosse team (7-5, 0-3 B1G) will face the No. 7 Johns Hopkins Blue Jays (8-3, 2-1 B1G) Saturday (April 21) at noon. The contest will also serve as senior day, as U-M will honor nine seniors.
WOLVERINE BITES
• On Senior Day, Michigan will honor nine departing seniors in captains PJ Bogle, Parker McKee and Chase Young, as well as Tommy Heidt, Sean McCanna, Eric Smith, BJ Mattheiss, Michael McDonnell, and student assistant coach Hugh Mosko.
• Junior Brent Noseworthy enters the week with 35 goals, which ranks second for a midfielder in the country, and is averaging 2.92 goals/game -- a number that ranks No. 5 in the NCAA and is the top mark in the Big Ten. His .430 shooting percentage (35 goals on 81 shots) checks in at No. 38 in the country and No. 4 in the Big Ten, and is three goals away from breaking his own school record for goals in a season (37). He also sits second the country in even-strength unassisted goals (24).
• Noseworthy has marked at least one point in each of his last 26 games, and has 72 goals, 12 assists, for 84 points over that span. Overall, he has ripped off a point in 30-of-33 games played in his career. In the three contests he did not register a point or shot in as a freshman, he was solely a part of U-M's man-up unit.
• Freshman attackman Kevin Mack ranks second on the team in goals (17), assists (20) and points (37). Mack is looking to become only the second player in U-M history to register a 20-20 season, with Ian King accomplishing the feat last season. He is two helpers away from breaking King's single-season assist record (21, 2017). Mack's 37 points rank him seventh in the country for freshmen.
• The Wolverine offense boasts six players with double-digit points, while 140 of U-M's 187 points have come via the junior (86) and freshmen (64) classes. Noseworthy paces the team with 41 points, and freshman Kevin Mack checks in at No. 2 on the team (37), while freshman Alex Buckanavage (27), junior Decker Curran (25) and junior Rocco Sutherland (17) check-in as juniors and freshmen with double-digit points.
• According to AnalyticsLacrosse.com, Michigan ranks No. 15 in shooting efficiency. The metric also rates Noseworthy as its No. 33 player in the country, and Mack the No. 56 player.
• Junior longstick Nick DeCaprio checks in as the Big Ten leader for caused turnovers (1.83/game), ranking him No. 13 in the country. He also checks in at No. 1 on the team in ground balls (38) and has collected 16 ground balls and has caused five turnovers in a trio of Big Ten games.
• Freshman Connor Cronin is 32-of-58 (55 percent) at the dot in three Big Ten games, and sits at 54 percent (101-of-186) on the season. The number puts him at No. 30 in the country and is on pace for the best single-season effort in U-M history.
• Junior midfielder Decker Curran sits tied for second on the team in goals with 17, and owns the top shooting percentage in the conference at 45 percent (17 goals on 38 shots). He is one goal off matching his career-high of 18 that was set last season.
