The University of Michigan women's soccer team (9-3-1, 4-1-1 Big Ten) travels to the state of Illinois for the eighth week of the season as it takes on Illinois (7-5-0, 1-4-0 Big Ten) in Champaign on Friday (Oct. 11) at 7 p.m. CDT and finishes out the weekend in Evanston for a Sunday (Oct. 13) contest against Northwestern (4-6-2, 2-2-1 Big Ten)Â at 1 p.m. CDT
Michigan needs one win to reach double-digit victories for the first time since 2016, when it went 10-5-5 and made its last NCAA Tournament appearance.
Where They Stand
• Michigan sits second in the Big Ten standings with a 4-1-1 record and trails only No. 12 Wisconsin, which defeated the Wolverines, 2-0, in Madison on Oct. 3.
• The Wolverines rank fourth in the Big Ten in points (65; 22 goals, 21 assists) and shots (179). The goal and assists totals each rank second in the conference, respectively.
• Meredith Haakenson is tied for fifth in the Big Ten with six goals and Sarah Stratigakis is tied for ninth with five.
• Stratigakis also ranks second in the B1G in assists (six) this season and is fifth in points (16).
Stratigakis Builds on Offense
• Junior Sarah Stratigakis leads the Michigan offense with 16 points (five goals, six assists) this season.
• The midfielder needs just one point to tie her career-best 17 (7G, 3A) collected in 2018.
• Stratigakis has grown her game in 2019 with her six assists just two shy of matching the eight she totaled in her freshman and sophomore years combined.
• The Ontario, Canada, native has six multi-point games and leads the team with three three-point contests this season.
