
Wolverines to Make Short Trip to Eastern Michigan

» Michigan is back in action with the first of two games this week, heading to Eastern Michigan to face the Eagles for the first time since 2015.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team (4-1) returns to the court Wednesday (Nov. 27), making the short trip to Ypsilanti to face Eastern Michigan (2-3) at the Convocation Center. Tip is set for 2 p.m., and the game will be streamed live on ESPN Plus.
• For the first time since Jan. 8, 2019, the Wolverines had a pair of teammates record a double-double in the same game when Naz Hillmon and Kayla Robbins each produced a double dip against Notre Dame (Nov. 23). Hillmon scored a team-high 17 points to go along with a career-best 16 boards, while Robbins chipped in 11 points and grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds. Hillmon now has two double-doubles on the season, while Robbins recorded the second of her career. Amy Dilk also has notched a double-double as Michigan is one of three Big Ten schools to have three different players record a double-double on the young season.
• Michigan has been effective on the glass in the early going, averaging 44.4 boards per game with a plus-14.2 margin to rank second in the Big Ten and 18th nationally. U-M leads the Big Ten in rebounding defense, allowing just 30.2 rebounds per game to its opponents. Naz Hillmon is second in the conference in rebounding (9.8 rpg), with Amy Dilk coming in 11th at 7.4 rebounds per game. Hillmon leads the conference in offensive rebounding (4.6 per game), with Dilk ranking second overall in the conference in defensive rebounding (6.6 per game).
• Junior Hailey Brown recorded her second straight double-figure scoring game of the season in Michigan's last contest when she went for 15 points against Notre Dame (Nov. 23). Brown hit four triples on the afternoon, pushing her season total to nine on 50.0 percent shooting (9-for-18). It was the 26th time in her career that she has scored in double figures and the fourth time that she has made at least four triples. She is fourth on the team in scoring at 8.6 points per game
• Freshmen Michelle Sidor and Izabel Varejão have found themselves contributing early in their respective Michigan careers. Sidor is sixth on the team in scoring, averaging 7.0 points in 18.2 minutes per game. Varejão is playing 16.0 minutes per game, scoring 6.6 points per contest and leading Michigan in blocks with 11 on the season. Through five games, the duo is accounting for 17 percent of Michigan's scoring and 61 percent of Michigan's bench production.
• Eastern Michigan (2-3) is coming off an 85-54 loss to Southern Illinois on Saturday (Nov. 23). EMU is averaging 69.0 points per game on 40.1 percent shooting while allowing 70.2 points per contest on 41.9 percent shooting. The Eagles feature a pair of double-figure scorers in Aaliyah Stanley (13.2 ppg) and Jenna Annecchiarico (12.2 ppg), with four other players averaging at least 6.6 points per contest. Michigan leads the all-time series against EMU, 17-10. The teams have not faced each other since the 2015-16 season.
