SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team closed out the regular-season indoor slate on Saturday (Feb. 17), setting the distance medley relay program record at the Alex Wilson Invitational.
U-M broke the record set at last year's Alex Wilson Invitational (9:20.83), improving upon the mark by 1.5 seconds (9:19.33). The relay team finished in third place, behind Northern Arizona (9:17.43) and North Carolina (9:17.92).
Trent McFarland ran the first leg of 1200 meters (2:52.10), Dubem Amene ran the 400-meter leg (45.50), Miles Brown ran the 800-meter leg (1:47.90) and Nick Foster ran the final leg of 1600 meters (3:53.80).
The Maize and Blue will open the postseason at the Big Ten Indoor Championships on Friday, Feb. 23, and Saturday, Feb. 24, at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
