Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week (March 19) -- Graduate student Sierra Brooks notched her seventh Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honor to conclude the 2024 regular season after leading the Michigan all-arounders with a 39.700 against No. 9 Denver. Brooks scored a 9.950 on both the uneven bars and balance beam, winning the bars title, and recorded a 9.975 on floor to place second behind Gabby Wilson's perfect 10. The Plainfield, Ill., native heads into the postseason ranked seventh nationally in the all-around, fifth on floor, 12th on beam, 15th on bars and 27th on vault, while leading the conference in the all-around, bars and beam and ranking third on floor and fifth on vault. Big Ten Co-Specialist of the Week (March 19) -- Senior Reyna Guggino was named the Big Ten Specialist of the Week after winning her second straight vault title against No. 9 Denver. She recorded a stuck landing and a 9.950 on vault, while also tying a career-best 9.925 on floor. The Tampa, Fla., native ranks fourth in the Big Ten on the vault and 25th nationally, while ranking 16th in the conference on floor. Guggino shares the honor with Michigan State's Olivia Zsarmani. Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week (March 12) -- Graduate student Gabby Wilson was named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week for the second time this season after winning the all-around (39.500) against No. 20 Georgia. She also was near perfect on floor exercise, scoring a 9.975 to take home the title. The Ypsilanti, Mich., native recorded her 100th career routine of 9.990 or better as she scored a 9.925 on uneven bars with a stuck landing. Heading into the final week of the regular season, Wilson ranks 15th nationally in the all-around and 13th on floor, while ranking second in the conference in the all-around, third on the floor and beam and sixth on the vault. Big Ten Gymnast of the Week (March 5) -- Graduate student Sierra Brooks was named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week for the fifth straight week and the 11th time in her career following an all-around score of a 39.650 at No. 1 Oklahoma. She scored a 9.900 or higher on three events, including a team-best 9.950 on the uneven bars and a 9.925 on floor exercise and also also tied a team-high 9.900 on the balance beam. In week nine, Brooks continues to lead the conference in the all-around, bars and beam while ranking second on floor and third on vault. Big Ten Gymnast of the Week (Feb. 27) -- Graduate student Sierra Brooks was named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week for the fourth straight week and the 10th time in her career after winning her fifth straight all-around title of the season and the floor title at the Big Five Meet (Feb. 24). She scored a 9.975 on floor and a 39.650 in the all-around while scoring a 9.950 on the uneven bars to place second. Big Ten Specialist of the Week (Feb. 27) --Senior Reyna Guggino won the vault title with a 9.950 at the Big Five Meet and tied a career-best 9.925 on floor. She stuck her vault landing in the three spot and scored a 9.850 on the beam. Big Ten Gymnast of the Week (Feb. 20) -- Graduate student Sierra Brooks was named the Big Ten's top gymnast for the third straight week and fourth time this season after Michigan's win against Rutgers on Friday (Feb. 16). She earned her fourth straight all-around title and her fifth of the season, while also capturing the vault title with a 9.975, an uneven bars title with a 9.950 and finishing second on floor exercise to teammate Gabby Wilson -- who scored a perfect 10 -- with a 9.975. Heading into the Big Five meet, Brooks ranks inside the top-10 nationally -- sixth on floor and ninth on beam and in the all-around -- while ranking 17th on uneven bars. Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week (Feb. 13) -- For the second straight week, graduate student Sierra Brooks has been named the Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week, this time sharing the honor with Illinois' Mia Takekawa. Brooks captured the all-around title (39.675) and a share of the vault (9.900) and balance beam (9.950) titles at Minnesota on Saturday (Feb. 10). She has won the all-around title in three straight meets and four times this season. The Minnesota meet marked Brooks' fourth meet with two title wins or more. She ranks eighth nationally on beam and ninth in the all-around and floor exercise, while pacing the Big Ten in the all-around and ranking second on floor and beam. Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week (Feb. 6) -- Graduate student Sierra Brooks earned her second Big Ten Gymnast of the Week nod of the season after capturing her third all-around title and second straight uneven bars title of the 2024 campaign. She scored a 39.575 in the all-around with a 9.950 on both the uneven bars and floor. The Plainfield, Ill., native has won at least two events in four of Michigan's five meets this season and leads the region in the all-around with a 39.560 average. Brooks ranks sixth nationally on the floor, 11th in the all-around and 17th on the beam. Brooks shares the weekly honor with Ohio State's Payton Harris. Big Ten Gymnast of the Week (Jan. 16) -- Graduate student Sierra Brooks scored a 39.850 in the all-around on Friday (Jan. 12) against Stanford to set the Michigan program record in the event. She surpassed the previous record of 39.825 held by Natalie Wojcik, Elise Ray, Sarah Cain and Beth Wymer. Brooks captured the mark with her second perfect 10 on floor exercise, 9.975s on vault and balance beam and a 9.900 on uneven bars. Entering week three of the season, Brooks ranks ninth in the country in the all-around and 10th on the floor. Big Ten Gymnast of the Week (Jan. 9) -- Graduate student Gabby Wilson was named the Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week after earning three scores of 9.900 and an all-around score of 39.450 at the Mean Girls Super 16 Gymnastics Championships to open the 2024 season. She shares the honor with Ohio State's Peyton Harris. Wilson placed second on the balance beam and tied for third overall on floor exercise in the season-opening event. After one week of competition, the Ypsilanti, Mich., native is tied for 10th nationally on beam and in the all-around and is tied for 13th on floor. Big Ten Gymnasts to Watch, Preseason Poll -- Graduate students Sierra Brooks and Gabby Wilson were named Big Ten Gymnasts to Watch in the 2024 season.
Brooks, a three-time captain, was the 2023 AAI Award winner and Michigan's female recipient of the Big Ten Medal of Honor, also while earning her third Regional Gymnast of the Year honor and her second Big Ten Gymnast of the Year honor. The Plainfield, Ill., native was the 13th Wolverine in program history to earn first-team all-conference honors on four occasions, and earned 15 event titles in 2023. She recorded two perfect 10s last season -- one on vault and the other her first perfect score on floor exercise, which earned her an NCAA regional crown. Brooks closed out the 2023 season with her seventh first-team All-America citation as she tied for fourth overall on the floor. Brooks is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, a three-time WCGA Scholastic All-American, a two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree and serves as the Student Academic Advisory Committee (SAAC) president.
Wilson, a two-time captain, competed in the all-around all season for the Maize and Blue and took home six event titles, including tying Abby Heiskell for the fifth-highest all-around score in program history. The Ypsilanti, Mich., native became the 14th Wolverine to earn four first-team All-Big Ten nods and was the Big Ten individual champion on the vault, also earning regular-season first-team All-America honors on the vault. Michigan was picked to win the 2024 Big Ten title after it earned back-to-back regular-season and Big Ten Championship titles in 2022 and 2023. The Wolverines are in search of their 28th Big Ten title. » Big Ten Release
