
U-M to Close Out Homestand with Midweek Game vs. WMU

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan baseball team (11-8) will close out its four-game homestand at the Wilpon Complex, home of Ray Fisher Stadium, with a free admission midweek contest against Western Michigan (1-16) on Tuesday (March 18) at 4 p.m. The game will stream on B1G+.Â
Notes
• Michigan took the final game of the series against USC on Sunday (March 16), winning an 11-0 seven-inning contest after dropping the first two games in the series. U-M won both midweek contests last weekend with a 6-4 win over Toledo and an 11-7 win at Michigan State.
• Mitch Voit had a strong weekend at the plate hitting .667 with a 1.222 slugging percentage. He tallied 12 hits with seven going for extra bases, scored six runs and brought home a team-leading 12 RBIs over the five-game week. Voit tallied a hit in all five contests and has recorded a hit in the past 12 games. Voit has reached base safely in 18 of the 19 games this season and the past 17 straight. On the season, he is hitting a conference-leading .451 and ranks 26th nationally.
• Colby Turner has found his bat of late, going 8-for-16 over the past five games. He has tallied eight hits including three home runs, and scored four runs and 11 RBIs. He slugged 1.188 over the five games and is now up to a 1.005 OPS on the season.
• Benny Casillas is second on the team with a .400 batting average with 24 hits throughout the season. Casillas has started 17 games this season, reached base in all of those starts and has hits in 14 of the 17 games. He has scored 17 runs with nine RBIs, and has served as the team's leadoff batter in his last seven starts.Â
• Graduate transfer Jeter Ybarra is hitting .282 on the season with 20 hits, six doubles and one triple. He has scored 12 runs and brought home 13. Over the past five games, Ybarra tallied four hits with four runs and four RBIs. He has 146 putouts with 16 assists and has helped to turn 13 double plays.Â
• Will Rogers was named the College Baseball Hall of Fame John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Week after a dominate weekend against Illinois. He had a strong week on the mound with four appearances in five games, allowing just one earned run over five innings with five strikeouts. He tallied one save against Michigan State and has four on the season -- which is tied for second in the conference and 14th in the nation.
• U-M has used 17 total pitchers this season with six earning starts and four getting starts in weekend games. Outside of the players earning starts, Max Debiec, Cade Connolly and Rogers have been the go-to arms out of the pen. Debiec has pitched 11.2 innings without allowing an earned run with 13 strikeouts. Connolly has 10 strikeouts in 9.2 innings with a 2.79 ERA.
• Western Michigan is 1-16 on the season and lost its first 15 games before recording a win against Eastern Michigan on Friday (March 14). All-time, U-M holds the advantage with a 96-79-4 record with a 19-11 record since 2000. WMU won three of the five contests last season.
