Notes
• The Wolverines sit sixth in the Big Ten conference and are coming off back-to-back rivalry series sweeps, most recently beating Ohio State with a combined score of 47-8, including the largest win in series history on Saturday (May 3) at 23-1. U-M most recently beat Central Michigan in a midweek contest, 8-7, on Wednesday (May 7).
• Benny Casillas leads the Big Ten Conference in batting average and hits per game. Casillas holds a .423 batting average and has 25 multi-hit games this season, averaging 1.57 hits per contest. He went 4-for-10 with three doubles and four runs against the Buckeyes and added three hits, including a home run against CMU. Casillas has reached base safely in all but one start this season which he left early due to injury.
• Mitch Voit ranks in the top 10 in the Big Ten Conference in batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage. Voit is slashing .356/.493/.667 ranking ninth, fifth and ninth, respectively, with a team-leading 47 runs and 52 RBIs. Voit is second on the team in slugging percentage over the last 10 games at .806 with five home runs, nine runs and 12 RBIs. In his Michigan career, he has totaled 33 career home runs tying him with Phil Price and Ken Hayward for fourth most all-time in program history.
• Jeter Ybarra has played in all 48 games this season with 45 starts, holding a .298 batting average. He went 8-for-12 against Ohio State with two doubles, four runs and seven RBIs. Ybarra is fourth on the team in batting average, third in runs and second in RBIs. All six of his home runs have come in the last 23 games after zero in his first 25.
• Over the last 10 games, Greg Pace Jr. is second behind Casillas with a .387 average, a .806 slugging percentage and scored 12 runs with 9 RBIs. Pace has appeared in the last 27 games with 24 starts in center field and is now up to a .321 average after his average dipping below .100 at the end of March.
• Brayden Jefferis has found a spot in right field this season. He is hitting .310 with 26 hits, 20 runs and 16 RBIs. Jefferis has appeared in the last 10 games with nine starts and has tallied eight hits with eight runs. He has a .474 on-base over that stretch -- and just five strikeouts compared to five walks and five hit-by-pitches. Jefferis holds a .493 on-base percentage which would rank fourth on the team if he was qualified.
• Kurt Barr returned after a third-team All-Big Ten season but had to earn his spot in the rotation. Over his last four starts, Barr has allowed just three earned runs with 21 strikeouts in 26 innings. He leads Michigan in strikeouts and is sixth in the Big Ten conference with 66. Barr holds a team-leading 3.39 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP. He has a 6-3 record this year and a 12-7 career record at Michigan in 174.1 innings.  Â
• With 61.1 innings this season, David Lally Jr. leads the Wolverines and holds a 4.55 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP. He has struck out 46 batters and has two complete games across 11 starts. Lally had a strong start against MSU on April 26, going 6.2 innings with just two hits and one run allowed. In his most recent start against the Buckeyes, Lally gave up four runs on four hits through three innings. He holds a 4-3 record this season.
• Freshman Tate Carey started the year as a relief pitcher and pitched four scoreless innings to begin his U-M career. He became the starting pitcher against Akron and threw a seven-inning no-hitter in 77 pitches. As a starter, Carey holds a 1.93 ERA in 28.0 innings, 24 strikeouts and a .153 batting average against. He holds an 8-0 record which is first in the conference in wins and 11th in the nation. He is also tied for fifth in Michigan history for freshman wins but is just one away from tying for second.
• Nebraska is 24-25 overall and 11-13 in the Big Ten Conference for 11th place but has won four of its last five Big Ten series. The Cornhuskers are coming off a series win against Minnesota but dropped their midweek contest to in-state foe Creighton. All-time, Nebraska holds the edge in the series winning 19 compared to Michigan's 16 -- with the Huskers winning the series last year. The Wolverines are 6-9 against the Cornhuskers in Lincoln, and won the series the last time they met in Nebraska back in 2022.
