
Michigan to Close out 2026 Regular Season at No. 9 Ohio State

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's lacrosse team (5-7, 2-2 Big Ten) closes out its 2026 regular season on Friday (April 17) when it travels to No. 9 Ohio State (9-3, 2-2 Big Ten) for a 6 p.m. contest at Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.
Notes
• Michigan and Ohio State have met 18 times, with OSU holding a 12-6 advantage. However, the Wolverines have won four of the last five meetings over the Buckeyes.
•Nick Roode led Michigan's offense in a win over No. 8 Penn State to earn Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors on Tuesday (April 14). The junior scored four goals, including three in the fourth quarter, to fuel Michigan's comeback. He netted the game-tying goal with 1:43 remaining. Roode placed four of his six shots on goal and added one ground ball against the Nittany Lions. He ranks fourth in the Big Ten with 37 points and leads the conference with 32 goals this season.
• Luke Shannehan also earned his second Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor after scoring the game-winning goal with 12 seconds remaining at PSU. He beat his defender and drove down the lane for the decisive score. He also assisted on Michigan's first goal of the game. Shannehan is tied for fourth in the conference with 23 goals and tied for fifth with 37 points. The attacker has recorded four hat tricks and has five multi-goal games, with a career-best five goals on two occasions
• Along with Shannehan, freshmen Adam Udell and Tay Rodriguez have made early impacts in their careers as Wolverines. Udell dished out three assists against Penn State and had four points, with one goal and three assists, against Rutgers. He also added a career-high two caused turnovers, one of which came in the final three minutes to keep Rutgers off the scoreboard, and added a ground ball.
Rodriguez leads the Michigan faceoff with 70 wins and has a .483 faceoff percentage through 12 games. The freshman also has a team-high 38 ground balls and has scored two goals and has one assist this season.
• The Michigan defense has forced teams into 186 turnovers this season, with 98 caused turnovers. Rowan Clay ranks third in the conference with 19 caused turnovers this season, while Will Tominovich ties for fifth in the Big Ten with 17 to his name. Most recently, he posted three caused turnovers and four ground balls against Penn State, while Clay added two caused turnovers and three ground balls. Chris Gaine and Jack Marlow also contributed two caused turnovers apiece.
• Michigan's 9-8 win over Penn State gave the Wolverines their second straight victory over a ranked opponent.
• Michigan notched its first Big Ten win of the season with a 13-10 victory over Rutgers in its final regular-season home game. The Wolverines controlled much of the contest, winning 17 of 26 faceoffs and recording 27 shots on goal compared to Rutgers' 18.
• U-M will wait to find out its seed in the Big Ten Tournament, which will start with quarterfinal rounds on campus sites Saturday (April 25).
