Notes
• Michigan and Penn State have met 16 times, with Penn State holding a 4-12 advantage in the all-time series.
• Michigan notched its first conference win of the season with a 13-10 victory over No. 13-ranked Rutgers in its final regular-season home game, while PSU suffered its first Big Ten loss at Johns Hopkins. The Wolverines controlled much of the contest against the Scarlet Knights, winning 17 of 26 faceoffs and recording 27 shots on goal.
• Freshman Adam Udell earned his first Big Ten weekly honor after helping lead Michigan past Rutgers in the final home game of the season. His honor marks the third time this season a Wolverine has been named Freshman of the Week, with Luke Shannehan and Tay Rodriguez having been named previously. Udell had four points (one goal, career-best three assists). He also added a career-high two caused turnovers, one of which came in the final three minutes to keep Rutgers off the scoreboard, and added a ground ball.
• Along with Udell, Shannehan and Rodriguez continue to have standout freshman campaigns. Shannehan ranks second on the team in points with 31 (22 goals, team-leading nine assists). The attacker has recorded four hat tricks and has five multi-goal games, with a career-best five on two occasions. In Michigan's most recent outing, Shannehan notched three goals and an assist to help Michigan defeat Rutgers. Rodriguez leads the Michigan faceoff with 69 wins and has a .511 faceoff percentage through 11 games. He also has a team-high 38 ground balls and has scored two goals, along with one assist, this season.
• Nick Roode leads the Michigan offense with 33 points, including 28 goals and five assists. He has scored at least two goals in all but two games and recorded a hat trick in the first five games this season. Roode has a .726 shots-on-goal percentage, with 45 of his 62 shots reaching the cage. He also ranks fourth in the conference with his 33 points and is one of just seven Big Ten players to have 30 points or more this season.
• U-M held the high-powered Notre Dame offense seven goals below its season average of 16. Senior goalie Hunter Taylor stopped 17 shots, just one shy of his career high of 18. He made 10 saves in the first half, including seven in the second quarter, to keep Michigan within striking distance.
• U-M will wrap up its regular-season schedule with a trip to Columbus to battle Ohio State at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 17. The game will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.
