Wolverine Bites
• Through two games, the sophomore attack duo of Alex Buckanavage and Kevin Mack have led the U-M offensive punch, ranking 1-2 on the team in points. Buckanavage, who ranks No. 26 nationally with five points per game, leads U-M with seven goals and five assists for 12 points. Mack's even split on points with five goals and five helpers ties him for the team lead in assists with Buckanavage. Both are coming off seven-point efforts against Drexel, which was one point away from tying the U-M record for points in a game.
• In the 17-16 double-overtime loss against Drexel on Tuesday (Feb. 19), U-M had 16 goals, nine assists, and 25 points as a team, each of which checks in as the fourth-most in program history. U-M also had 47 ground balls in the contest, which ties the program record.
• With his 17th-career hat trick against Drexel, senior Brent Noseworthy became the third Wolverine to surpass 100 for his career (89 goals, 13 assists). He now trails Kyle Jackson (113) and Ian King (144) for the most points in program history. His 89 goals rank second, trailing King's program-best mark of 94. He also has scored at least one point in 30-straight games, the eighth-longest current streak in the NCAA.
• U-M has outscored opponents by an 8-1 margin in the first quarter through two games, and has held a least a three-goal advantage in the opening stanza in each game. Michigan jumped on top of Cleveland State 3-0 and built a 4-0 lead to start the contest against Drexel.
• Freshman short-stick midfielder Zach Johnson leads the team with 11 ground balls through two games. Primarily a face-off wing, he set the U-M record for non-longpoles or faceoff men with seven ground balls in the 17-16 double-overtime loss against Drexel (Feb. 19).
• Freshman defender Matt McDonnell is the lone Florida resident for U-M. He attended Cardinal Mooney High School in Sarasota.
