
Wolverines Set to Host No. 17 Buckeyes

The University of Michigan men's lacrosse team (1-4, 1-4 Big Ten) will host No. 17-ranked Ohio State (2-4, 2-4 Big Ten) in the first game of the second half of the 2021 Big Ten-only schedule. The contest will be held on Saturday (March 27) at 1 p.m. inside U-M Lacrosse Stadium and will be streamed live on Big Ten Network Plus.

Wolverine Bites
• Michigan boasts a trio of players from the state of Ohio in Michael Boehm (Rocky River), freshman Grant McCurry (Solon) and sophomore Gunnar Geiger (New Albany).
• Junior goalie John Kiracofe was named Big Ten Specialist of the Week for his 17-save performance in U-M's win over Penn State on March 20. The mark was a new career high for the junior netminder, who has started all five contests for the Wolverines on the campaign.
• Junior Bryce Clay was named to the USILA National Team of the Week for his five-goal performance against the Nittany Lions. He is the second player in program history to earn a spot on the team, as Brent Noseworthy earned the accolade during the 2018 season.
• With five points in the win over Penn State, sophomore Josh Zawada leads the team in points with 16 (12 goals, 4 assists). Freshman Michael Boehm leads the team in assists with six and is second on the squad in points with 14, while Clay also boasts double-digit goals with 11.
• Junior faceoff specialist Nick Rowlett paces a Wolverine unit that leads the conference and ranks No. 30-nationally (57 percent). He also is averaging 9.60 ground balls per game to lead the league and rank No. 4 in the country in the metric. In Lacrosse Reference's EGA ranking, he owns a mark of 22.92 to rank as the No. 6 FOGO in the country and the top option in the Big Ten.
• The Wolverines have seen 14 newcomers make their debuts this season, highlighted by Boehm as well as midfielders Kyle Stephenson (three goals), Tyler Papa (two goals) and key defenders Jack Whitney and Brendan McCabe.
• In its win against Penn State, U-M limited its turnovers to only 10. Heading into the contest, U-M averaged 18.75 per game. U-M also won the third quarter for the first time this season, besting the Nittany Lions, 5-2, in the third stanza.

The Buckeyes, ranked No. 17 in the latest Inside Lacrosse Media Poll (March 22), are 2-3 heading into the matchup and are coming off a 16-8 loss at home against Maryland (March 20). The prior week, OSU knocked off the Wolverines, 13-10, in Columbus. Jack Myers had three goals and a helper in the matchup, and Tre Leclaire added two goals and two assists. The contest was a one-goal game at the half, but OSU outscored U-M, 7-5, in the second half to help seal the victory. Michael Boehm led U-M with four points (three goals, one assist) and Josh Zawada also marked a hat trick.
The last time the two met in Ann Arbor was on April 26, 2019, with U-M emerging victorious, 13-10.
